Welcome to 2012!

I can't believe how much my children have accomplished in the FIRST WEEK of the new year! All of my mommy friends out there know I don't like to brag about my kids, but I just HAVE to let you know what they've been up to.

Fortify is excelling at learning FIVE new languages. We all knew she wouldn't have a problem with it, I just can't believe how quickly it's coming to her. The other day she was on the phone with someone in CHINA telling them how to make an upside-down cake. (Can't wait for THAT phone bill!!! :) !! ;-)).

Aloe has been busy with his usual. We've had THREE recitals this week! 2012 is going to be a LONG year for THIS family! I would pull Aloe from a few of his musical groups if it wouldn't totally crush the groups to do so.

I've been a little concerned about Casper this week. While he did manage to make and sell his first Creme Brulee, he didn't apply himself in his studies this week the way I expect him to. On Thursday, for example, when I asked him to tell me the theme of each presidency in US history, when he got to Garfield he said, "civil service reform and radical republicanism." WTH!!?!?!?!?!!?!???! I don't know how he's going to manage preschool next year if he can't even get his history straight now. CAN ANY OF MY MOMS OUT THERE HELP ME WITH THIS ONE?????!?!???!?!?!?!?!???!! :(

Cider is learning to crochet, and BOY IS SHE GOOD AT IT! I'm not at all surprised. She inherited her mother's delicate hands but her father's fierce precision. Not to brag.

Opaque is still our little baby. We don't expect much from her around here! But being part of this family, as you can imagine, she still delivers! (Literally, actually. She brings our paper in in the mornings and then gives us the highlights when we're too busy running off to awards ceremonies to read through it ourselves).

Yes, I think 2012 is going to be a great year around our house! I'm so humbled by how impressive my five children are. So so humbled. Please join us in our exciting journey through 2012!

  1. I still want to do a babysitting swap! Shoot, all take all 5 of your kids if you'll just take two of mine for an evening!

What I'd really like to hear about is your spouse! ;-)

  2. I agree, I want to her more about the Misses. How is she?
And I wouldn't be so hard on Casper. He was probably so excited with his first sale and all and couldn't focus. Maybe do some multitasking exercises to help him with that issue. Maybe while he is baking you could have him reading while spitting out math facts all at once, all while defusing a mock bomb on a timer. That should keep him on his toes.
Good luck this year. Being a mom is super hard. :)

  3. Whatever. We all know that you just sit around in your snuggie all day forcing your kids to write words on blocks of wood so you can sell them on eBay. I mean, don't get me wrong. I just bought your "lost your job" block set (nice touch with the word "Ramen" thrown in there, by the way.) for my uncle, and I love it! But they really need to work on their penmanship... the word "broke" looks like it was written by an epileptic cat. Quality, not quantity man. Anyhow, just call a spade a spade next time, okay? Just because you're selling these blocks in 5 countries doesn't mean your kids speaks 5 languages- it means she can use Google translate. Just sayin' :-) Happy new year!!!!!
